Gift Aid

Money

If you pay tax in the UK, then Gift Aid is a simple way to increase your donations to the Church.

Tax Effective Giving

Making your donation using Gift Aid will enable the Church to reclaim the basic rate tax on your gift. This means that if you give £10 using Gift Aid in 07/08 tax year, that gift would be worth £12.82 to the Church.

You can make payments by cash (in a named envelope), cheque or standing order. Subject to a few rules, you can give any amount, large or small, regular or one-off and the Church can reclaim the tax.

If you are a higher rate taxpayer, you can also claim relief on the difference between the basic rate and higher rate of tax.

If you pay little or no tax you should not use Gift Aid.

Please bear in mind your tax free allowance when working out how much of your income is taxable.

To start donating through Gift Aid, all you need to do is print off the gift aid form, complete and sign it and return to the Treasurer. This will indicate you are a tax payer and wish to make your donations through Gift Aid. This only needs to be done once.

As the rules surrounding Gift Aid may change from tax year to tax year you may want to check the Inland Revenue web site for the latest information.

Have you considered a standing order for your donations?

A regular monthly donation by standing order greatly reduces the administration overheads of the Church. For details on how to set up a standing order please contact the treasurer
